"I was married by a judge. I should have asked for a jury."
Groucho Marx
Reportedly, the following ad ran in the Atlanta Constitution: SINGLE BLACK FEMALE seeks male companionship, ethnicity unimportant. I'm a very good looking girl who LOVES to play. I love long walks in the woods, riding in your pickup truck, hunting, camping and fishing trips, cozy winter nights lying by the fire. Candlelight dinners will have me eating out of your hand. Rub me the right way and watch me respond. I'll be at the front door when you come home from work wearing only what nature gave me. Kiss me and I'm yours. Call (404) 875-6420 and ask for Daisy.
Word has it that 643 men called and found themselves talking to the Atlanta Humane Society about an 8-week old black Labrador retriever! (Courtesy: suddenlysenior.com )

The Damning of The Villages
"What's the use of happiness? It can't buy you money."
Henny Youngman
The Villages, a senior community of 50,000+ near Orlando, FL, has been tagged and ridiculed as a haven of senior sex fiends and rampant with STDs. When I heard that the ratio of women to men there was 7 to 1, my libido went pedal to the metal and purely out of curiosity, I checked it out.
By way of Google, not a personal visit, alas.
The genesis of the story was a piece on the website of WFTV on May 25th of 2006. The crux of the short article (link below) is that doctors have noted an increase in STDs and that the county was preparing an educational program to address the situation. Not much more.
http://www.wftv.com/news/9275560/detail.html
Three days later, May 28th, the democraticunderground.com included a single post that stated: "STDs Running Rampant at The Villages." This simple three line post (which slams "retired GOP types for screwing around") still tops a Google search for: STDs, The Villages. Thus, "increase" was transformed into "rampant" and the game was on. The blogs selected "rampant" as their descriptive favorite and The Villages was now unfairly tainted.

During all of this hullabaloo (which continues even today), not one piece of data has been published to verify this exaggerated claim.
Now, the reality is that you can't put 50,000 seniors together without fun and games any more than an equally sized group of 30 somethings. Boys will be boys and the girls will be, er, ladies. Coupling and sex will break out all over along with the unintended consequences.
The Villages is almost the size of the student body of Ohio State University. I wonder if the students there have a STD problem? Hmm?

Book Comments
"The secret of a good sermon is to have a good beginning and a good ending; and to have the two as close together as possible."
George Burns
Asking for comments can be a very scary proposition. Yet, without you, my customers, I would still be flogging about the Internet searching for the latest schemes to make me rich. Like most, I spent more than I earned.
So have at it, and help me improve the next revision.

Welcome Intro
"What would men be without women? Scarce, sir...mightly scarce."
Mark Twain
Welcome to my new blog which follows the online publishing of "Seniors: Dating and Sex." The intention here is include customers as well as any senior who wishes to contribute to our little group.
Anything (within reasonably good taste) goes here and information sharing is paramount. Since SD&S is always a work in progress, your ideas may become part of any future revision. Existing customers will never need to re-purchase the book as all future added information will be included here first (become a Follower and not miss out on anything).
Feel free to think of this blog as a continuation of the book. Your personal experiences and comments are welcomed.
